Meet the Mayor

The City of Ashland operates under a City Manager form of Government. Under this form of government the people of Ashland elect a Mayor and four Commissioners, who together, make up the Board of Commissioners, which possesses the legislative and executive powers of the city. Administrative powers are vested in the City Manager who is appointed by a majority vote of the Board of Commissioners for an indefinite term.

The Mayor, Chuck D. Charles, as a member of the Board, presides over all meetings, calls special meetings, and executes all bonds, notes, contracts, and written obligations authorized by the board


Hope's Place

Hope's Place is a Children’s Advocacy Center that offers services to child victims of sexual abuse and support for their non-offending caregivers.

Our child-friendly facility is located in Ashland, Kentucky.

We offer direct services to non-offending family and victims of child sexual abuse.

These services include: Comprehensive Medical Examinations, Forensic Interviews, Mental Health Counseling, Case Management, Court Advocacy, Personal Advocacy, Multidisciplinary Team Coordination and Case Review.

Our mission is to operate a year-round community-supported market that provides a viable economic outlet for local food producers while providing consumers access to locally grown agricultural products.

From I-64, take Exit 8 (5th Street Exit) of Huntington, WV. Turn onto the I-64 Westbound access road. Travel one block and turn right onto Johnstown Road. Follow Johnstown Road about a mile until you come to a stop sign. At the sign, turn left and go across the bridge onto Harvey Road. Follow it 1.7 miles to the marked entrance to Heritage Farm Museum and Village.
