The Legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen | Highlands Museum and Discovery Center

Highlands Museum and Discovery Center

From 6:00 pm to 12:00 am

About this event

As part of the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center’s Black History Month celebrations, historian Ronald L. Spriggs will present a lecture on the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen.

Spriggs is an oral historian, speaker and curator of the Ron Spriggs Exhibit of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. in Lexington, KY. He is an eight year USAF veteran and a retired Manager and Advisory Business Planner from IBM.  He has received numerous awards for his work on the Tuskegee Airmen.

The Tuskegee Airmen formed the first all-black combat units in the U. S. Army Air Corps. Trained in Tuskegee, Alabama, the fighter and bomber pilots were deployed overseas during World War II.  They compiled a splendid record as they battled the Axis Powers in Europe—and racism at home. Their success in battle helped end segregation in the military.

This event will take place on Tuesday, February 10 at 6 pm at the Highlands Museum.  It is free and open to the public.
